Greetings, Sports Fans! Today, we segue from politics to sports, where men are men, and they sweat too much.

I don't generally follow college football, but since the home state team has done well, I have made an attempt. After Mizzou's loss last night, the sports web pages I frequent, like ESPN, have pointed out some pretty funny things. To the coach of the victorious O.U.: Begging for votes to the National Championship game is pretty lame. If you are gonna be on your knees, turn this way, I'll accomodate you. Give it a rest. It will be Ohio State and LSU. Just say "Thank you kindly", and go to whatever bowl game you get.

It will be interesting, since both #1 and 2 were defeated. Can anyone see a playoff system in the future? That's why I don't take college ball seriously...one of many reasons, actually. Writers and computers determine the contendants. That being the case, Frodo and Aragorn could make a fair case for inclusion. (After all, they beat Saruman and Sauron.) Second point, how many Heisman Trophy winners went bust in the NFL? College success doesn't mean much when you go professional. It helps to be good, but the pro game is light years beyond college. A plus 2 playoff system would help weed out the lucky. If the Heisman voting wasn't held until after the final game of the college season, it would help winnow the chaff, so to speak. Anyone remember Gino Toretta? Ryan Leaf? Didn't think so.

I'll stick with the NFL. If they're good, they'll be there, and stay; if not, who cares? If I'm not mistaken, Tom Brady was a 6th round draft choice, Kurt Warner went undrafted. College ball means squat, kids. As Wild Bill Hickok said, "Fast is fine. Accurate is final." Be good in college, fine, but when all the chips are on the table, that's when you must be accurate, you must be a player. College is fine, the NFL is final.
