Been away awhile, so time to jump back in with malice aforethought:
Why is it that a possible ambassadorial appointee of the Bush administration can have his nomination withdrawn after some Democrats jump him about a political contribution he made? I refer to a perfectly legal contribution, made to a 527 organization called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, by the now-withdrawn appointee, Sam Fox. Could it be that John Kerry, the junior senator from Massachusetts who was the focus of some Swift Boat Vet's ads during the 04 election, happened to be on the commitee? This is absolute insanity. I don't worry about Kerry, he's a proven nitwit. I am very unhappy with the White House, since the President should have backed this man up. He has received good reviews from many Democrats, as well as Republicans. It rankles me that Dubya's latest public face and cry is "mea culpa"... which segues into...
What idiot in the White House thought apologizing for firing 8 U.S Attorneys was a good idea? U.S. Attorneys, like many other appointees, serve "at the pleasure of the President". He could fire every one of them, en masse', for no cause whatsoever. Someone in the White House is dishing out bad advice. Were it me, I'd go on CNN and announce the firing of every last one of them...then laugh at the press... and Congress. Might even tell them to kiss my ass on my way off the podium.
